Buckets

A Bucket is the container where content is created and managed. Every article, video, image, audio file, or document begins life inside a Bucket.

Buckets are independent from business products like sites or feeds. This means editorial teams can keep working without disruption when sites are redesigned, new products are launched, or business structures change.

By separating content from products, Buckets:

  • Keep editorial workflows stable, even if business strategies evolve.
  • Allow the same content to be reused across multiple feeds and sites.
  • Provide a consistent home for external content (e.g. Reuters, AFP, or a digital asset management system).

In short, Buckets give you a reliable place to produce and organize content — regardless of how or where it is eventually published.

  • Each Bucket has its own permission settings, so teams can access only the Buckets relevant to them.
  • Buckets are integrated with Workflows, enabling content to move through drafting, review, and publishing stages inside the same space.
  • Different desks or teams (e.g. News, Sport, Lifestyle) can each have their own Bucket with tailored access and workflow.
  • All activity inside a Bucket is tracked through the Messaging & Activity system, ensuring visibility and accountability.
  • Once approved in a Bucket, content can be placed into one or more Feeds.
  • Feeds then power your Sites, newsletters, or syndication channels.
  • A single article in a Bucket can appear across many Feeds and Sites without duplication.

This creates a flexible pipeline where editorial teams focus on content, and business teams focus on presentation.

Buckets can also ingest content from external sources, including:

  • News wires (e.g. Reuters, AFP)
  • External DAM systems
  • Partner organizations

Ingested content is centralized in Buckets, ensuring it follows the same workflow, permissions, and metadata standards as your in-house content.

Because Buckets are the starting point for all content, everything created or ingested here automatically becomes part of NewsTeam’s Digital Asset Management (DAM) layer. This ensures metadata is captured consistently and assets are reusable across the organization.

In summary: Buckets are the home for content creation in NewsTeam. They decouple editorial work from business products, support granular permissions and workflows, and make it easy to reuse and distribute content across all your sites and channels.
