Creator Network
In most CMS platforms, creators are treated only as authors of articles. NewsTeam takes a broader approach: a creator can be anyone who contributes to your content, across any format.
This reflects the reality of modern newsrooms, where storytelling is collaborative and multimedia-driven.
Supported Creator Categories
Section titled “Supported Creator Categories”Creators can be assigned one of several categories that reflect their role in content production:
- Columnist — Regularly contributes articles or opinions
- Journalist — Gathers, writes, and reports news
- Photographer — Captures images for news stories
- Videographer — Films and produces video content
- Illustrator — Creates visual representations to accompany articles
- Audio Producer — Produces and edits audio content
- Editor — Reviews and refines content before publication
- Graphic Designer — Creates visual graphics and layouts
- Data Journalist — Uses data analysis and visualization to tell stories
- Investigative Journalist — Focuses on in-depth reporting
- Podcast Producer — Creates and manages podcast content
- Copywriter — Writes promotional or advertising material
- Multimedia Journalist — Works across multiple formats (text, video, audio)
- Field Reporter — Reports live from the location of news events
- Opinion Writer — Expresses personal views and perspectives
Each creator can also be left unspecified if a category is not required.
Linking Creators to Content
Section titled “Linking Creators to Content”Creators are not tied only to articles. In NewsTeam, they can be linked to any content type:
- Articles — as authors, columnists, or contributors
- Images — crediting photographers
- Videos — crediting videographers, editors, or presenters
- Audio — crediting hosts, producers, or sound engineers
- Widgets — crediting designers who create graphics, charts, or data visualizations
This ensures every contributor gets proper attribution and that their work is discoverable across the platform and the Digital Asset Management (DAM) layer.
Linking Creators to Sites
Section titled “Linking Creators to Sites”Creators can also be linked to specific sites or products within your organization.
This allows you to:
- Build site-specific creator listing pages (e.g. showcasing all creators for a single brand)
- Manage which creators are visible across different products
- Keep attribution consistent across multiple sites without duplicating creator records
Creator Pages
Section titled “Creator Pages”Each creator automatically gets a dedicated profile page, which can include:
- Name and biography
- Profile photo
- Social links
- Contact details (optional)
- A list of all content they’ve contributed to across the platform
This makes it easy for readers to explore more work from a specific creator and for editors to see an overview of their contributions.
Collaboration & Recognition
Section titled “Collaboration & Recognition”Because creators are linked at the metadata level:
- The Messaging & Activity system can be used to tag or notify specific creators when collaborating on content
- Creators can be linked alongside sponsors for transparency in branded content
- Attribution is preserved across all sites, feeds, and syndication outputs
Search and Discovery
Section titled “Search and Discovery”Granular linking unlocks powerful search and discovery:
- Find all articles written by a specific journalist
- Pull up every image credited to a photographer
- Browse all podcasts produced by your audio team
- Explore investigative work by a reporter
- Generate site-specific listings of creators to showcase brand teams
In summary: The Creator Network in NewsTeam goes far beyond “authors.” It recognizes all contributors — from photographers to podcasters — and connects them directly to the content they create. By linking creators to articles, assets, sites, and the Messaging & Activity system, NewsTeam ensures accurate credit, better discovery, and a richer understanding of how stories come together.
